Victoria, Australia

A portable bond still connects two separate rentals.

Victoria's scheme can transfer bond money to a new rental. Keep a distinct condition record for the property you leave and the property you enter.

What the scheme does

The Victorian Government says the Portable Rental Bond Scheme is optional, costs $25 and lets eligible renters transfer existing bond money to a new property through the RTBA platform.

The first property still closes separately

The outgoing rental provider can still make a claim about the first property. The official condition report, move-in record, move-out record and handover information for that address therefore remain important.

The new property needs its own starting point

Complete the official condition report for the new rental and photograph it before everyday use changes the condition. Do not mix the two addresses in one record.

Use the official service

Eligibility, repayment and transfer steps belong to the Victorian Government and RTBA process. BondProof does not apply for, transfer or guarantee a portable bond.
